Closer Than Kin is a five piece hardcore punk band hailing from Southeastern Massachusetts. The band, consisting of Nick (vocals), JK (guitar), Stevie Chaos (guitar), Rich (bass), and Roger (drums), has just released their full length debut on Punktuation/Arctic Music Group entitled "THE MACHINERIES OF BREATH." For the past two and a half years, Closer Than Kin has been bringing their own hybrid of punk and hardcore to everyone and anyone that would listen. A constant touring schedule has brought their sound throughout the eastern and midwestern parts of the United States along with three successful tours of Canada, sharing the stage with the likes of The Misfits, Sick of it All, Big Wig, Pennywise, Death By Stereo, Shai Hulud, Agnostic Front, Atreyu, and many more. In the spring of 2001, Closer Than Kin released a five song demo "Dead Flowers for a Dying Lover" which was produced and recorded by longtime friend Steve Austin of Today is The Day at Austin Enterprises Studio. To this date the band has distributed and sold over 15,000 copies. The demo was released in five countries total including NooNoo records in England, Nosedive Records in Australia, as well as in Chile, the Phillipines and in the United States. Closer Than Kin's, sometimes referred to as "HorrorCore", style is a blend of hardcore, punk, and straight up metal all meshed together in a chaotic assault of emotion and aggression. "THE MACHINERIES OF BREATH," which was also produced by Steve Austin at Austin Enterprises and mixed by Jim Fogarty at Zing Studios, brings you Closer Than Kin's dark diversity and lyrics of utter contempt for everything they feel is wrong in life and in the world with their own brand of hardcore in a brutal pummeling of misery, broken hearts, and injustice. In the upcoming months, Closer Than Kin will be touring relentlessly throughout the US in support of the new release. The month of May will bring the band across the ocean for the first time on a full European tour in support for Today is The Day. |
